Pinging snakes

In the fifth room, the Seeder will ping for snakes. This means the Seeder should be in the front of the group. The Seeder should be careful to stay ahead of the team and EE forward as needed to avoid spirits and stay in the front and maintain range with the MT.

The Seeder should starting pinging just ahead of the when the snake is being taken and continue pinging every few seconds to keep the snakes with the Seeder.

Once the Seeder has all three snakes, the Me/N (3-3) or IAU (6-0) will ball Black Beast. The Seeder must seed (use Echo if it’s on the bar) on the Emo once the mesmer is tanking the group. (Note: The Seeder must continue pinging until the snakes leave the party window. Do not ping something in the Black Beast group.)

Once the TT is in position the Seeder will take the quest reward from the General and spawn the Fury Group. Generally the TT is in position as soon is the quest reward is available, unless something has gone wrong before or during the spike.

Afterward, the Seeder will go with the Emo to find QZ and keep range as the MT pulls the big ball clear of Foundry chest spawn. Once the Fury spike starts, the Seeder will seed the Emo continuously until the completion of the spike. If the mesmers die during the spike, you can resurrect them, but don’t catch aggro of the Fury group. Don’t cast on the mesmers directly.

How to Ping for Snakes

Pick a target in the center ball, where the MT is. Don’t ping spirits, because they die. There’s a group with Misery Titans that the MT runs through very early on which is usually the first group that’s good to ping. The Margonites aren’t a good first target because they break before the 1st snake is taken. You will need to cycle targets every so often when groups break off the MT. By default, hold CTRL+Shift and push Spacebar to ping. You will say something like “I’m targeting Misery Titan!” in team chat. (If you say “I’m attacking Misery Titan!” instead, you’ve done it wrong. Make sure to hold Shift. Shift is the suppress action button and it lets you run and ping at the same time.) Pinging in this way puts the “T” symbol next to your name in the party list and the snakes will follow you. Don’t stop on top of a spirit. Snakes will attack spirits when they are standing still, which gets the team Margonite aggro. Make sure snakes are atleast out of your aggro range. If you need to use a skill like EE or Seed, use the skill, then press “T” (by default) to target your own target and then ping again.

If you want to try pinging outside a run, enter Curse of the Nornbear, because Jora will follow the pinging mechanic and she’s right at the beginning of the mission.
